The Man Behind the Garden

Andy Turner, Serenoa Landscape Design

I was born and raised in Northeast Florida, shaped by sandy soils, salt air, live oaks, and the quiet beauty that exists when nature is allowed to lead. Long before landscape design became my profession, it was simply my environment—something I lived in, worked in, and learned from every day.

I got my start in landscaping back in high school, working for a local landscape company. That work carried me through my college years and planted seeds I didn’t yet realize would grow into a lifelong calling. Like many paths worth walking, mine wasn’t linear. I stepped away for a time, built a life, married my beautiful wife Elizabeth, and eventually found myself drawn back to the work that always felt most natural—quite literally—being outside, creating, and building something meaningful.

What began as a maintenance-based business became the foundation of my design philosophy. Caring for landscapes day in and day out teaches you something no textbook ever could: the right plant in the right place changes everything. It’s not just about beauty—it’s about longevity, sustainability, and creating spaces that feel effortless because they belong exactly where they are.

Over time, that philosophy evolved into what Serenoa Landscape Design is today: a studio rooted in thoughtful design, where tropical elements meet Southern charm, and where every garden is approached as a living, breathing work of art. I fell in love with the process of transformation—turning underwhelming spaces into places people once only dreamed of. Spaces that invite people outside. Spaces that slow time. Spaces where memories are made.

I truly have a dream job. I love every aspect of what I do—from meeting new people, to listening deeply, to the pursuit of blending a client’s vision with a reality that is sustainable, beautiful, and inspiring. I’m endlessly curious about how landscapes shape the way we live and how thoughtful design can encourage people to reconnect with the beauty around them.

I’ve always been drawn to the outdoors—the sense of wonder, discovery, and peace that lives there. To have a hand in curating spaces that cultivate that feeling for others is what makes this work so rewarding.

I’m deeply grateful to do what I love every day, and even more grateful for the clients who trust us with their spaces. We don’t just build gardens—we grow alongside the people who live in them.

Thank you for being part of that journey.
